On Thursday, July 21st United Adworkers welcomes four nationally recognized advertising professionals to Milwaukee as they join us in our beautiful city to judge over 400 entries from our local advertising community. Judges include: Megan Evans, Creative Director at Ogilvy & Mather in Chicago; Hoshi Ludwig, Creative Director and Faculty member at School of Visual Arts in New York City; Chris Pollock, Freelance Creative Director/Art Director in Chicago; and Pedro Saldarriaga, Associate Creative Director at Sukle in Denver. Local Milwaukee advertising agencies have submitted their best work from the last year to be presented to these four judges. While viewing all of the work at the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design (MIAD) on Friday, July 22, they will narrow the entries down to the top 99 pieces and decide on this year’s Best of Show winner.
Winners will be announced at the 2016 United Adworkers Milwaukee 99 Awards Show on Thursday, October 13th at the Harley-Davidson Museum in Milwaukee.

After graduating from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago with a focus in graphic design and photography, I started my career at Ogilvy & Mather Chicago. It’s been my advertising home ever since. Building brands with a 360 lens is what I enjoy most and I’ve been privileged to do it for clients ranging from Sargento, CDW and Sears to Glade, Dove and Suave. Working with Russell Wilson on a Super Bowl spot for American Family Insurance and Charles Barkley for a CDW campaign have been career highlights. Currently, I oversee the Corona Light and Sargento accounts. After a successful launch in 2015, the Real Cheese People campaign was named an Effie Finalist this year. It’s an honor to be judging a show with such a great reputation. Thanks for having me.
Hoshi Ludwig is a creative director, designer & educator based in New York. With over 11 years of experience, Hoshi has lead teams and designed award-winning campaigns, interactive experiences and platforms for companies such as Nike, Google, The North Face, Audi and many more. Valuing hard work, craft and collaboration, Hoshi is well-experienced in digital strategy and communication allowing him to deliver premium work from concept through execution. Hoshi’s work has been globally recognized and awarded by The Webby’s, Communication Arts, Cannes Lyons, One Show, Art Directors Club, The FWA, SXSW and more. He is currently in the midst of starting his own studio, previously working with wonderful people at Google, R/GA, firstborn, jUXT Interactive. For the past 4 years he has taught at School of Visual Arts in Manhattan.
Over the past 16 years Chris has crisscrossed the country working at large and small shops alike on brands such as Bud Light, Eddie Bauer, T-Mobile, Ball Park Franks, Columbia Sportswear, Mountain Hardwear, Aleve, Burgerville, Les Schwab Tires, Claritin and Valvoline Motor Oil. His passion for new business pitches has brought some tasty clients to the agencies he’s worked for and his love of design and art direction has earned him a decent haul of awards along the way too. When he’s not pounding away on the ad machine or writing about himself in the third person, Chris enjoys time in the front seat of a small plane or begging his grumpy old motorcycle to run.
I didn’t take a direct path to work in advertising. I was actually supposed to be a professional cyclist. I gave up on that dream after two seasons of monk life in Spain (ride, eat, sleep, repeat). I’m not from Spain; I’m a Colombian by the way. After reality set in I came back to the states, married my college girlfriend, painted and old Victorian house in Maine and saved enough money to move to Colorado. My first job in Denver was as a mortgage broker. I should mention I have an art degree so selling thirty year fixed loans was right up my alley. Luckily my upstairs neighbor liked mountain biking and he introduced me to his boss who needed a graphic designer.
Fast forward five years and I had a break in my career doing work for big brands like the North Face and Audi at Factory Design Labs. I then went on to freelance, got a lay of the land and jumped at the opportunity to work at CP+B Boulder. CP+B taught me how to come up with lots of ideas, and after you think you are done, think of some more. After a year on a steady diet of briefs, long hours, and little sleep I pulled the umbilical cord to glue back my family life. I had been curious about a small shop called Sukle who seemed to do award winning work year after year. Curiosity can lead to great places. I’ve been with Sukle for two years and won several awards for the Denver Water campaign including this year best of show at the Obies.
